The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has approved galvanized reinforcement for use in all concrete products for 2006. Precast items, cast in place, and wire mesh products received unilateral approval by the state engineers.
The state of Pennsylvania has installed hundreds of galvanized reinforced bridge decks during the last 40 years. The excellence performance of these existing structures, plus the abundance of current scientific data on the product, gave PennDOT engineers the confidence to again start using hot dip galvanized rebar.
